LAKE EL SALTO - MEXICO BASS FISHING
The most popular Mexico bass fishing lake.
THE LAKE
This 23,000 acre impoundment is home to some of the very best Largemouth Bass Fishing in the world.
The lake is 20 miles from the coast and approximately 500 feet above sea level. El Salto Lake was formed by the damming of the Elota River. The scenery is breath taking . Lake El Salto was was originally stocked with Florida-strain Bass in the Fall of 1986. Over the years, the bass jhave consistently matured to very healthy sizes, providing some of the best Mexico bass fishing available today. The lake consitsts of Shad , Tilapia and Crawfish which are all abundant and contribute to a tremendous supply of protein to the quickly growing bass.
The lower end of the lake harbors steep, rocky banks with very sharp drops. Maximum depth is around 150 feet and water clarity is excellent.
While El Salto looks promising all over, we have found that the upper half is usually where the best bass fishing occurs. That's where our clients have found hundreds of brush-cluttered points, ridges and humps, not to mention the flooded ruins of two towns, a pair of ancient cemeteries and numerous shallow flats.
El Salto provides an excellent opportunity to catch numbers of quality fish and also the opportunity to catch a trophy bass. Outstanding reports have been coming back from our clients, and they would all agree that this is a great bass fishing opportunity. Over the years, thousands of bass over 10 pounds have been caught and released at this great Mexican bass lake. Every year the lake record keeps being challenged by yet another monster Bass! The lake record of 18 pounds-1 ounce was caught in 2000. Throughout the year, many trophies are caught in the 8-14 pound range!
