LAKE HUITES FISHING SEASONS
Buena Vista Lodge opens on October 1 and is typically closed the
last day of May. The weather conditions normally allow for the
spawn to start in February and ends the last part of March. Schooling bass
can be caught from October to December. We have had some of the
best trips to the lake during the late fall season, November and
December. October is less predictable numbers-wise, but it has
produced more huge fish than any other month of the year.
February and March are our most popular months of the season,
with anglers catching fish of all sizes while testing their
skills fishing around the brush-covered banks, steep points
and canyon walls. The crowds often overlook January, but it
offers excellent pre-spawn fishing conditions with a dynamite
top-water bite often occurring during the early morning hours.
November - December: This is the best time for topwater action. This time period also
has proven to provide high numbers of fish.
January - Middle of February: This time period is the pre-spawn
Mid February - End of March: This time period is the SPAWN.
This time period produces some large fish. Note, the fishing results
depend on the weather conditions.
April: This time period is the post spawn. This time period has also proven to provide large numbers of fish
May - June: During this time period, you will most likely have to
resort to fishing deep water.
