MEXICO BASS FISHING
Amazon River Peacock Bass Fishing
TESTIMONIALS
Kent,
Want to thank you for your help with our trip. We all had a great time and
there were no major hiccups.
Mike Dorner, had the largest bass at 10-8. He also had a 9 and 7. He was
working 7" watermelon/red senkos very slowly and focused on deeper water
using 15lb line and a light spinning rod. This was only his second time
bass fishing.
Troy Carpenter had the second biggest at 9-8 on a Storm Wildeye shad. John
Ackermann got a fish that was 7+ and Jim Skrine got a 6-12 on a carolina
rigged chartreuse senko.
The bigger fish were in post spawn and in deeper water, and the guides
tended to want to use carolina rigs and fish slow and deep. There was a good
Pop-R/Rico bite in the evening if you found the right cove, good rattle trap
bite (blue/chrome 3/4 oz) on flat sloping banks. There was also a good jig
bite in the trees if you could get the guide to go in tight and flip the
deeper standing timber. Also good fishing on texas rigged worms like the
10" Zoom watermelon ribbon tail and on jerkbaits like pointer 100. Our
group averaged from 40-90 fish per day with most fish in the 3-4lb range.
Lodging was good and food was outstanding with a memorable ribeye steak and
lobster dinner on the 2nd night. Lupe does a great job running the place
and keeping everything in order. Guides were also good, each was
knowledgable about the lake and helpful in recommending lures, unsnagging
lines, and rigging tips. The shuttle vans to and from the lodge were on
time, clean, and comfortable.
One of the few down notes was the unbelievable amount of nets. If there is
any way to schedule a trip when there is a no netting period please tell me.
There were some areas that had nets in every direction and you could not
fish the area. Also, its a scramble to pack and get out on the last night.
We didnt know that we wouldnt get fed that night - good thing one of the
guys brought some snack bars to eat in the van since we didnt get to the
Hotel until 9pm. May be a good idea to warn others to bring some snacks for
the last night.
Thanks again

Dear Kent,
I wanted to let you know that our trip to Lake Guerrero turned out great. Thanks for setting this up for us. Everything went so smoothly. The driver picked us up at the McAllen airport promptly and was very helpful getting our visas and through the Mexican check-points. He even made sure we received the correct change when we stopped for a snack. The service at Big Bass Lodge was excellent and as advertised. The food was catered to American tastes with enough local flavor to make it interesting and tasty. Empty plates were returned by all!
Of course, our main goal was fishing, not eating. First let me say that our guides, Fernando and Javier were both extremely knowledgeable about the lake and helpful in our efforts. Although we didn’t hook any of the famed Guerrero sows, my partner and I, by actual count boated 260 bass up to 6 pounds 14 ounces, in our three days of fishing. We caught many in the 3 to 5 pound range. The two other guys in our group estimated they caught 240 in that same time period. That’s 500 bass caught and released! We did get to see another angler bring in one over 14 pounds, so we know they are there for our next trip!
Attached are two photos. The first is me with a 5 pound 13 oz. beauty and the second is my partner, Bob with a 6-14 sow. We’re already planning for next year’s trip and have even discussed a possible attempt at Peacock Bass next year.
Thanks again,
Phil Mazzaroppi

WE did have some trouble getting to the lodge, but, after that it was a perfect trip. I'm saving for next year and will get in touch with you after the 1st of the year to book another trip to Guererro Thanks again for a great trip and I'll be in touch next January.

Good morning Kent,
This is just a note to tell you what we thought of the Mexican bass trip you arranged for us. As you know, our group consisted of 3 grandsons, a son-in-law, a friend and former employee and myself, none of whom are real fishermen.
We started off by being met by a very competent driver, Joe, who was exactly where he was supposed to be. He made our 3 hour trip very pleasant, and our return trip was equally good, except for the fact that I talked him into taking the wrong road.
We arrived at the Big Bass facility to be met by Benny who showed us our sleeping quarters, which we as nice or nicer than any of the lodges I had visited over the years. He met us with a case or two of beer and the offer of margaritas (which were not too good). He was a superb host attending to any need we had and serving good food in a great atmosphere.
It would be wrong for me to overlook the fishing. Our three guides were great, the boats comfortable and in good condition. Now, to the fishing. In two days, four sessions, we boated and released an estimated 200 bass, including one 23 inch trophy. I must confess that I didn't personally catch my share of the fish nor was I the one who caught the trophy.
In all, we had a great time and I just want to thank you for your part in it.
Sincerely,
Bud Inhofe
Kent,
Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know what a great time Nick and I had at El-Salto. We caught the most fish we ever have on a fishing trip and both of us got our personal best. Nick got a 9 lbs and an 8 pounder for me. The accommodations were good and we had a great time. I also enjoyed all of the people that we meet on the trip. I will send you pictures as soon as I get them developed.
We look forward to doing it again sometime.
Sincerely
Rick Pruett
Kent-
Bob, Chuck and I had a great time at Lake Guerrero. We caught between 600-700 fish in 3 days. We caught numbers on crankbaits and bigger fish flipping 11” watermelon worms and jigs. Here’s a few pics. We’ll be in touch to book next year’s trip soon.

Hey Kent,
Had a good time in Guerrero. I enclosed a couple a pictures. Our guide had a spot off a rocky point down near the dam. We pulled 30 to 50 fish off this point every morning, then repeated it in the afternoon. Lots of small fish, but plenty of 2 to 3lbers, one that went 4.9 and the biggest 6.25. Derrel ended up winning our big fish pot with the 6.25 caught on a topwater. A couple of our guys had 7 to 8lbers to the boat, but lost them.
We fished topwaters in the morning (Dalton specials and chug bugs) and had a great time. When the sun came up fished with pumpkinseed worms and any kind of senkos (I like the new two-toned, red and black). Some in our group did well with bubblegum flukes fished slowly. I barely twitched the senko, almost fished it like a worm, and caught massive quantities of fish. Went through 150 senkos in 3 days.
One group got a guide who wanted to fish nothing but crankbaits. They didn’t do very well. The islands produced, the points worked, but the flats were slow. The fish seem to be getting bigger than previous years and I didn’t see very many nets. Maybe the slot limit is working or maybe it’s the water level, but it was a good trip.
I'm talking to my brother and father about going to El Salto in February or March. I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Ned
